hawkeyecp; since I just noticed your post and it was not current you may have gotten it fixed. Since I have a 1050 also I would like to know how you got the problem solved? Just in case I have problems of such. Thanks EW.

To all who helped and advise me a few months back on my starter problems. I got a manual and took starter off and checked it out nothing was broken worn out only gummed up something terrable. I cleaned and blew out with air greased where needed lightly and put back on cranked first time. I appreaciate your help but looks like a good cleaning was all that was needed can't believe it but it worked. Till next time thanks to all.

TomG appreciate the reply yes I think if I had a tractor manual that would help. they are hard to come by. I think I will try putting a washer or two between the bolt studs and see if this will space the starter out some what do you think?
